Knoxville Symphony Orchestra: Masterworks

Knoxville Symphony Orchestra: Masterworks at Tennessee Theatre

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra closes its Masterworks season with a program that moves across centuries in a single evening. Aram Demirjian conducts Ying Li in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, framed by Grażyna Bacewicz's Overture and Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5. Tennessee Theatre hosts the performance on Friday, May 14, 2027, at 7:30 PM. If you want an orchestra finale with range and power, this is the occasion Knoxville gives you.

The program begins with Bacewicz's vibrant Overture, then moves to Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, where Ying Li joins the orchestra. Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 finishes the evening. Music Director Demirjian describes the Shostakovich as one of the composer's most powerful orchestral statements, a work of remarkable intensity and emotional depth. Three composers, three eras, one night.

Invite someone who values live orchestral music. A partner who appreciates a season finale. A friend who wants a reason to dress up and spend a Friday evening at Tennessee Theatre. The Masterworks season gives you a natural occasion to gather, and this closing program offers music worth making the trip.
