Indoor Cats

Indoor Cats at Clarence Brown Lab Theatre

Filmmaker Jules is recently dumped, creatively stuck, and hiding out in her parents' cabin while the world shuts down around her. Then a flirtatious neighbor introduces her to something wonderfully absurd: making films for cats. Mora V. Harris's Indoor Cats comes to Clarence Brown Lab Theatre in Knoxville on Thursday, February 25, 2027, at 7:30 PM. If you're drawn to comedy that finds meaning in bizarre places, this fresh story gives you a reason to spend a Thursday night at the theater.

Director Daniel Bird Tobin leads a production described as wry, original, and wonderfully strange. The play explores art, desire, and uncertainty through a premise you won't find anywhere else. For theatergoers who appreciate offbeat storytelling, Indoor Cats offers something specific: a character navigating creative collapse in a world that no longer makes sense, with humor that acknowledges the absurdity without dismissing the feeling.

Bring someone who enjoys comedy that takes risks. A friend who shares your taste for the unconventional. A partner who appreciates a story with personality. Choosing the show together gives you both something to look forward to and a reason to turn an ordinary weeknight into an occasion worth leaving the house for.
