A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage

Ebenezer Scrooge gets one more night to reconsider everything. The spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come arrive to show him what his choices have cost and what remains possible if he opens his heart. The Clarence Brown Theatre Company stages Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage in Knoxville on Saturday, December 19, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Follow a lonely miser toward generosity as the holiday season reaches its height.

Director Patrick Lanczki leads the Edward Morgan and Joseph Hanreddy adaptation, with music by John Tanner adding dimension to a story you may already know. Music, humor and theatrical spectacle give the familiar tale fresh appeal. The ghosts move the plot forward, but Scrooge's chance to rediscover compassion gives you something to care about beyond the Christmas setting.

Share that story with people you'd like to spend more time with this season. A theater date gives you a reason to gather before holiday plans fill every hour. For families considering a younger theatergoer's visit, the production is recommended for ages 4 and older, and children under 4 are not permitted. Choose the outing with your own family's readiness in mind.

Make room for a Knoxville holiday tradition built on a story worth returning to. Check ticket options for A Christmas Carol and plan an evening together at the theater.
