A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage

Ebenezer Scrooge wakes each morning choosing isolation over generosity, profit over compassion. Then three spirits arrive to show him what his life has become and what it might still be if he changes. The Clarence Brown Theatre Company stages Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage in Knoxville on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Watch a miser discover that hearts can change and kindness can still flourish.

Director Patrick Lanczki leads the Edward Morgan and Joseph Hanreddy adaptation, with music by John Tanner adding dimension to a story many already know. This production combines Dickens's storytelling with theatrical spectacle designed to fill the Mainstage with wonder and holiday warmth. The ghosts drive the plot forward, but Scrooge's journey toward rediscovering joy gives you a reason to care beyond the seasonal trappings.

Invite family you'd like to gather with before the holidays claim every evening. A theater date offers a specific reason to put December 5 on your calendar and share a Knoxville tradition together. For families considering a younger theatergoer's visit, the production is recommended for ages 4 and older, and children under 4 are not permitted. Choose the outing with your own family's readiness in mind.

Give Scrooge his chance and give yourself a reason to leave the house. Check ticket options for A Christmas Carol and plan a holiday evening at the theater.
