A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage

What if three visitors showed up tonight and offered you one last chance to change? Ebenezer Scrooge faces that choice when the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come reveal what his life has become and what's still possible if he acts. The Clarence Brown Theatre Company stages Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage in Knoxville on Friday, December 4, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Watch a miser confront the cost of his choices and decide whether kindness is worth the risk.

Director Patrick Lanczki brings the Edward Morgan and Joseph Hanreddy adaptation to the stage, with music by John Tanner. Music, humor and theatrical spectacle add dimension to a story many already know. The ghosts arrive on schedule, but Scrooge's struggle to rediscover compassion gives you something to invest in beyond the holiday setting.

Share the story with people you'd like to spend more time with before the calendar fills. A theater date gives you a reason to gather now instead of waiting for the right occasion. For families considering a younger theatergoer's visit, the production is recommended for ages 4 and older, and children under 4 are not permitted. Choose the outing with your own family's readiness in mind.

Make room for a Knoxville holiday tradition built around a story worth retelling. Check ticket options for A Christmas Carol and plan an evening together at the theater.
