A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage

Ebenezer Scrooge's transformation has drawn audiences for generations because the core idea is simple: a person who has forgotten how to care is given one more opportunity to remember. The Clarence Brown Theatre Company brings Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol to Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage in Knoxville on Sunday, November 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Three spirits arrive to show Scrooge what his isolation has cost him and what he might still reclaim if he chooses compassion over greed.

Director Patrick Lanczki stages the Edward Morgan and Joseph Hanreddy adaptation with music by John Tanner. Music, theatrical spectacle and the warmth of Dickens's storytelling combine to create the appeal. For theatergoers who value a production built on craft, the design team includes scenic designer Kevin Depinet and choreographer Casey Sams. Attendees drawn to the story will find it supported by the work behind it.

A Sunday matinee gives you a reason to gather before holiday plans dominate the schedule. Invite someone who shares your appreciation for theater, or bring family members ready for the experience. The production is recommended for ages 4 and older, and children under 4 are not permitted. Choose the occasion with your group's readiness in mind.

Reserve a place at a Knoxville holiday tradition built on a story of change. Check ticket options for A Christmas Carol and plan a Sunday afternoon at the theater.
