A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage

Ebenezer Scrooge's lonely existence breaks open when three spirits arrive to show him what his bitterness has cost him and what kindness might restore. The Clarence Brown Theatre Company stages Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage in Knoxville on Friday, December 18, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Watch a miser face his past, his present and his future before his chance to change runs out.

Director Patrick Lanczki leads the Edward Morgan and Joseph Hanreddy adaptation, with music by John Tanner adding warmth to the story's familiar turns. Theatrical spectacle, humor and heart combine to remind us that generosity and compassion can be rediscovered even in the coldest heart. The ghosts deliver the warnings, but Scrooge's transformation gives you something to care about beyond the holiday settings.

Invite the people you want beside you this season. A theater date in December offers a reason to gather before holiday schedules fill completely. For families considering a visit with younger members, the production is recommended for ages 4 and older, and children under 4 are not permitted. Choose the outing with your own readiness in mind.

Make room for a story about second chances and the spirit of Christmas. Check ticket options for A Christmas Carol and plan an evening at the theater with the people you'd like to remember it with.
