A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage

Three spirits challenge Ebenezer Scrooge to reconsider his life. Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come arrive not to condemn but to show him what's left if he'll take it. The Clarence Brown Theatre Company stages Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage in Knoxville on Saturday, December 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Watch a miser walk toward kindness and see how a story about generosity still holds.

Director Patrick Lanczki brings Edward Morgan and Joseph Hanreddy's adaptation to the stage with music by John Tanner. The production uses theatrical spectacle, humor and music to frame a familiar tale. Scrooge's second chance gives you reason to care beyond the ghosts and holiday settings. The story's appeal rests on the idea that hearts can change, and that's worth your attention.

Invite someone to the matinee who makes December better. A Saturday afternoon performance gives you time to plan the rest of the day around the outing. For families with younger children, the production is recommended for ages 4 and older, and children under 4 are not permitted. Consider your own group's comfort with theatrical smoke, fog, sudden loud noises and strobe-like effects before you commit.

Let a Knoxville holiday tradition earn its place in your season. Check ticket options for A Christmas Carol and choose the afternoon that suits your plans.
