The Sound of Music at Tennessee Theatre
What can music teach a family learning to trust each other again? The Sound of Music comes to Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville on Saturday, March 27, 2027, at 8:00 PM. Follow Maria from the abbey into the von Trapp household as she brings warmth, defiance and songs into a home that had forgotten how to sing. Jack O'Brien directs this production, giving Knoxville audiences a reason to revisit a story built on love, resilience and choosing the life your heart demands.
Rodgers & Hammerstein wrote songs that remain part of the culture decades after the musical's premiere. Do-Re-Mi, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, and Edelweiss give this story its emotional vocabulary. If those melodies bring you back to moments when theater or film stirred something in you, this production offers a fresh chance to hear them performed live and feel that pull again.
Invite someone who values stories about people who refuse to settle. A partner who loves musicals. A friend who introduced you to Rodgers & Hammerstein. An evening at Tennessee Theatre gives you something to anticipate together and a reason to make Saturday night about more than staying home. Maria's choice to follow her heart rather than live behind closed doors gives the production its center, and sharing that journey with someone beside you makes the occasion mean more.
Let a story about climbing every mountain draw you out for the evening. Explore ticket options for The Sound of Music in Knoxville and plan a musical theater night worth attending.
