The Great Gatsby - Theatrical Production

The Great Gatsby - Theatrical Production at Tennessee Theatre

Jay Gatsby throws the parties. Daisy Buchanan remains just out of reach. Nick Carraway watches everything fall apart. The Tennessee Theatre stages The Great Gatsby on Saturday, December 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM. If F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel gave you characters worth caring about, this Tony Award-winning musical adaptation offers a chance to see their longing and recklessness play out in front of you.

Marc Bruni directs, with choreography by Dominique Kelley. Kait Kerrigan wrote the book, while Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen created a jazz- and pop-influenced score. The music and movement pull the Roaring Twenties into the present without leaving the period behind. A musical gives you more than plot: it gives you a chance to feel the longing that drives Gatsby and the glamour that hides the emptiness underneath.

A Saturday matinee gives you time to enjoy the performance without rushing through dinner. Invite someone who shares your interest in classic American stories, or a friend who appreciates theater that balances spectacle with emotion. Make this the afternoon you get out of the house and give yourself a reason to spend time together in downtown Knoxville.
