The Great Gatsby - Theatrical Production

The Great Gatsby - Theatrical Production at Tennessee Theatre

Jay Gatsby throws lavish parties in pursuit of a woman he can't have. Daisy Buchanan remains just out of reach. F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic becomes a Tony Award®-winning musical when The Great Gatsby arrives at Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville on Wednesday, December 16, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Watch extravagance collide with longing on a stage designed to capture the tension between wealth and desire.

Director Marc Bruni and choreographer Dominique Kelley guide the production through a world of jazz and ambition. The production combines a book by Kait Kerrigan, music by Jason Howland and lyrics by Nathan Tysen, with jazz and pop influences, giving familiar tragedy a musical voice that serves the Roaring Twenties setting. The staging gives you access to a chapter of American literature reimagined for the theater, with music and movement shaping what you see.

Theater works best when shared with someone who appreciates the effort a live production demands. Invite a friend who read Gatsby in school and wonders what it looks like on stage. Bring a partner who values live musical theater. The evening gives you a reason to dress up, step into the Tennessee Theatre and experience a story together rather than separately.
