Clyde's at The Jenny Boyd Theatre

A job can mean more than a paycheck when the rest of life has shut its doors. Lynn Nottage's Clyde's plays at The Jenny Boyd Theatre in Knoxville on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Watch a group of formerly incarcerated cooks find pride, possibility and fragile hope as they toast bread and imagine futures beyond the kitchen. If workplace redemption stories speak to you, here's a chance to follow characters rebuilding from the ground up.

Nottage won two Pulitzer Prizes before writing this Tony-nominated hit, which became one of the most-produced plays in America. Katie Lupica directs, leading a creative team that includes scenic design by Kristen Martino and sound design by Joe Payne. A hundred-minute run with no intermission gives you a focused evening in the theater with characters whose resilience anchors the story.

Bring someone who values character-driven theater and smart writing. A partner who appreciates Nottage's voice. A friend who enjoys stories where humor and struggle share the same stage. Choosing the night together gives you both a reason to make theater part of your plans and a story worth discussing afterward.

Let Nottage’s characters draw you into the kitchen. Explore ticket options for Clyde's at The Jenny Boyd Theatre and plan a November evening where hope rises in unexpected places.
