Knoxville Concerts This Weekend: The Best Live Shows
Knoxville spreads weekend concerts across seated historic theatres, standing-room clubs, campus arenas and special-event halls. Each Friday, Saturday or Sunday show brings its own parking plan, room arrangement and admission rules, so comparing venues and reading the specific event page before you buy helps you choose the right ticket and arrive prepared.

Knoxville's weekend concert calendar uses the 700-seat Bijou Theatre, the larger Tennessee Theatre on Gay Street, The Mill & Mine's standing-room hall in the Old City, the 2,500-capacity Civic Auditorium and the 21,000-seat Food City Center on UT's campus. Check each performance for Friday, Saturday or Sunday timing, seating type, age restrictions and parking, since a historic theatre's reserved seats differ from a club's standing floor and a campus arena's concert setup.

Downtown Historic Theatres: Bijou and Tennessee
The Bijou Theatre and Tennessee Theatre anchor South Gay Street's performing-arts corridor with very different capacities and seating layouts. The Bijou occupies the historic Lamar House building at 803 South Gay Street in a room of just over 700 seats, offering a more intimate scale than its larger neighbors. The Tennessee Theatre stands at 604 South Gay Street with a much larger auditorium that hosts Broadway tours, orchestral performances and touring concerts alongside comedy and film programs. Both venues use reserved orchestra and upper-level seating rather than open standing floors, so your ticket assigns a specific row and seat number.
Downtown parking requires advance planning because neither theatre operates its own garage. The Bijou names State Street, Market Square and Locust Street garages among the public options, and also identifies the neighboring Conley Square Lot at 310 West Church Avenue. The Tennessee Theatre lists Locust Street, Market Square, Langley and Dwight Kessel garages, plus paid options at First Tennessee Plaza and Riverview Tower. Some downtown facilities advertise free evenings and weekends, but those published schedules do not apply to every lot. Read the entrance signs at the garage you actually use and compare the posted terms with the time you expect to leave, especially for a weekend matinee.
The Mill & Mine: Standing-Room Concerts in the Old City
The Mill & Mine at 227 West Depot Avenue offers a different concert experience one block north of the Old City and across from the Southern Railway Station. Touring artists and themed music nights use an indoor stage with a standing audience area advertised for up to 1,200 concertgoers. The venue also serves weddings and private functions in an outdoor courtyard and event spaces, so concertgoers should follow the performance's admission details rather than expecting the seating shown in a private-event photograph.
Concerts are standing-room only unless the event page says otherwise. The venue identifies an ADA section and asks guests who need seating accommodations to speak with staff on arrival. Contact the venue beforehand if standing throughout a concert would be difficult, using the general-inquiries address [email protected], so the team can discuss what is appropriate for that particular event. The outdoor courtyard is part of the building's facilities, not a promise of a seat or stage view for every ticket.

Knoxville Civic Auditorium: Mid-Size Theatre Performances
Knoxville Civic Auditorium is the theatre-style performance hall within the Civic Auditorium and Coliseum complex, advertised as a 2,500-capacity venue for orchestral pops programs, touring stage productions, concerts and comedy. The auditorium is separate from the neighboring hockey arena, despite sharing the Howard Baker Jr. Avenue address and campus parking facilities. That distinction matters when choosing seats, arranging accessible entry or finding the correct event on arrival. Check the auditorium map for the performance you are attending, particularly when selecting between main-floor and balcony locations.
KCAC has three dedicated parking garages with approximately 2,500 spaces. The current parking page lists standard event parking at $20 and Ice Bears or Knoxville Symphony Orchestra parking at $15, with rates subject to change. Parking is cashless and the venue identifies major credit cards as accepted payment. UT football park-and-ride uses a separate rate and operating arrangement; a shuttle product for Neyland Stadium is not the same as ordinary parking for a performance at KCAC, so check the intended event before purchasing a pass.
Food City Center: Arena Concerts on Campus
Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center is the University of Tennessee's large indoor arena on the Knoxville campus at 1600 Phillip Fulmer Way SW. Tennessee men's and women's basketball and volleyball share the building with touring concerts, commencement ceremonies and special events. Opened in 1987, the arena has a published basketball capacity of 21,678. Visitors should distinguish athletic-game arrangements from concert arrangements: the parking plan, doors, floor seating and stage location can all depend on the event.
The seating bowl surrounds the basketball court for games, while concerts can use a stage and temporary floor configuration. The published basketball capacity is not a guarantee of concert capacity or an unobstructed view from every section, so select seats from the actual concert or game map. Concert and special-event parking is currently listed at $20, payable by card, in adjacent lots and garages. Athletic events have their own parking instructions; volleyball guidance, for example, identifies G5/G30 and limited G10 parking rather than applying the concert charge universally. Follow the sport and date-specific campus map.
Comparing Friday, Saturday and Sunday Concert Commitments
Weekend concert planning starts with the day and door time, not just the performance hour. A Friday evening show in a downtown theatre requires different parking and arrival strategies than a Saturday night standing-room concert in the Old City or a Sunday matinee at a campus arena. Check whether doors open an hour before the scheduled start or if the event specifies a different schedule, and use that door time to calculate your departure, especially when downtown or campus traffic is heavy.
Room setup defines the experience. Historic theatres like the Bijou and Tennessee assign specific orchestra or balcony seats, making early selection important for accessible locations and sightlines. The Mill & Mine's standing-room floor means you should be prepared to stand for the entire performance unless you contact the venue beforehand about seating accommodations. Civic Auditorium uses main-floor and balcony seating without an elevator to the upper level, so guests who cannot use stairs must arrange main-floor tickets when ordering. Food City Center's concert layout can differ from its basketball configuration, with a stage and temporary floor seating, so always select from the actual concert map rather than assuming a particular section will have the same view.
