Knoxville Jazz Orchestra: Naples To New York

Knoxville Jazz Orchestra: Naples To New York at Bijou Theatre - TN

Pat Metheny called Pasquale Grasso "the greatest guitar player I've ever heard maybe in my entire life." The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra brings Grasso to Bijou Theatre on Tuesday, April 13, 2027, at 8:00 PM. If that endorsement makes you curious, here's your opportunity to hear what the NEA jazz master heard. Grasso arrived in New York from Italy's Campania region and turned heads with an approach to the instrument that changed expectations.

Grasso performs music made famous by Bud Powell and Charlie Parker, arranged for big band by his brother Luigi. The pairing of bebop legends with a full ensemble offers a different way to hear familiar names. For listeners drawn to the interplay between solo virtuosity and ensemble writing, the collaboration between brothers offers something specific to anticipate. The arrangements give Powell and Parker's material a new frame.

A Tuesday night at the Bijou can be the break in your routine you've been meaning to arrange. Invite a friend who values exceptional playing, or go alone and give yourself an evening dedicated to listening. Jazz at this level doesn't require a special occasion. The music is the occasion.

Let your curiosity about Grasso's reputation guide your choice. Find ticket options for the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra and make April 13 a night for live jazz.
